I believe that Autism and it's spectrum is a gift to the world. I know that is a rather bold statement. I am a woman in her fifties diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome who has a B.A. in Psychology gotten in the late 1970's. I have raised my son who is also diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, although early on he was diagnosed with autism proper because of his early speech delay. I wish to discuss my thoughts and feelings about autism and bipolar of which I am also diagnosed with.
The autistic spectrum is made up of different disorders, although I do not like the word disorder let us use "way of being". There is Aspergers, Rhett's, and PDD-nos. Too name but a few. Here are some help links:
There seems to be a strong link between mood disorders and autism. Either our parents have this or some of us develop this coping with the world.
